DANTE’S VERONA

Dante Alighieri is one of the symbols of Italy itself and without a doubt the country’s best known poet beyond its shores. Often seen as the father of Italian language, his masterpiece, the Divine Comedy, describes his (imaginary) journey through hell, purgatory and paradise, encountering a host of incredible characters and experiences along the way.
Through his writings, Dante transports us back to the Middle Ages. As we see the many places he travelled through his eyes, his journey becomes our journey!
DAY BY DAY
DAY 1 – Friday
Arrive at the railway station, meet the expert guide, and walk to the city centre hotel.
Dinner and brief introduction to the tour.
DAY 2 – Saturday
Visit the beautiful city, focusing on the houses in which Dante Alighieri lived. The great poet spent seven years of his life here as a guest of the Scaliger family. He dedicated Paradise, the last part of his Comedy, to Cangrande della Scala, lord of Verona during the early 14th century.
Enjoy lunch in a typical trattoria and in the late afternoon, head out to the Serego Alighieri vineyard in Valpolicella for a special wine-tasting on the estate owned by Dante’s descendants.
Dinner at leisure and overnight in Verona.
DAY 3 – Sunday
After breakfast, take in the city’s highlights such as the Arena (a Roman amphitheatre), and Juliet’s balcony. In fact, Dante was the first writer to use the names of the Montague and Capulet families in a verse in Purgatory.
Farewell lunch and transfer to station.

He is passionate about art and culture and has developed an innovative way to visit places, that transform the way to look at the world: telling stories to inspire a way of thinking that is research-oriented, even in everyday life.
